Govt To Give Due Consideration To Adams' US Ambassador Nomination

18/07/2025 04:16 PM

PUTRAJAYA, July 18 (Bernama) -- The government will give due consideration to the nomination of conservative commentator and writer Nick Adams as the new United States (US) Ambassador to Malaysia, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

He said the appointment must go through the proper process and that it is still too early to comment further.

Anwar added that the consideration would also take into account the strong bilateral relations between the two countries.

“The government will of course give it due consideration while also maintaining the good relations between Malaysia and the US,” he told reporters after performing Friday prayers at Surau Istiqlal here today.

International media previously reported that US President Donald Trump had nominated Adams — an Australian-born conservative political commentator who is now a US citizen — as the US Ambassador to Malaysia.

The US Senate has yet to confirm Adams’ appointment.
