29/05/2026 05:18 PM

SHAH ALAM, May 29 (Bernama) -- The strategic collaboration between Red Giants FC Sdn Bhd and WTM Media Sdn Bhd, formalised today, is expected to see the Selangor Red Giants (SRG) e-sports squad expand its brand reach to a higher regional level.

Selangor FC chief ececutive officer Dr Johan Kamal Hamidon said the proactive move, through the collaboration, aims to expose SRG to audience demographics beyond youths while opening opportunities for interaction with new communities that had not been explored previously.

“This is a meaningful collaboration, as it allows us to reach new audiences and groups we may not have been able to access before.

“SRG is a strong and well-known brand in Malaysia, but we are definitely looking for room to improve, such as through this collaboration with WTM Media, which already has plans to expand into Asia. So, I expect us to grow our influence in the region,” he told a press conference at the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Red Giants FC Sdn Bhd and WTM Media Sdn Bhd here today.

He added that the dynamic two-way relationship does not involve any form of direct financial sponsorship, but instead focuses more on sharing expertise and leveraging the commercial impact strengths of both parties.

Meanwhile, Foodie Media Berhad chief executive officer Nicholas Lim Pinn Yang said the company, as the majority shareholder in WTM Media, aims for the strategic collaboration to generate commercial revenue of up to RM500,000 within one year.

“That revenue generation will be fully supported through a comprehensive commercialisation plan linking live-streaming activities and digital sales to increase high-value sales conversion for enterprise brands,” he said.

Earlier, the MoU signing ceremony between the two parties was completed by Johan and Saufi Badry representing Red Giants FC Sdn Bhd, while Lim and Mariah Ahmad represented Foodie Media Berhad.

SRG are the defending champions of the Mobile Legends Professional League (MPL) Malaysia after dominating consecutive domestic seasons with a long unbeaten record, including winning the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Mid Season Cup 2024 (MSC MLBB) 2024 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, thus returning home with about RM4.67 million in prize money.
