Global Sumud Congress To Culminate In Mass March Confronting European Parliament

KUALA LUMPUR, April 20 (Bernama) -- A high-impact march to the European Parliament is set to take place in Brussels, Belgium on Wednesday (April 22) following the Global Sumud Parliamentary Congress, that gathers more than 200 United Nations (UN) officials, parliamentarians, and civil society leaders to coordinate international action on Palestine.

In a statement today, the Global Sumud Flotilla emphasised that the march is ‘not a symbolic protest’ but a translation of political commitments into public pressure.

“As the Global Sumud Flotilla advances towards Gaza challenging Israel's illegal blockade in real time, this mobilisation will bring that same confrontation to the heart of European power, transforming institutional consensus into visible, collective demand,” said the group.

According the group, the march will begin at Mont des Arts at 6 pm and proceed to Place du Luxembourg, facing the European Parliament,

The march will bring together important figures such as Palestinian political leaders, European and international parliamentarians, Global Sumud Flotilla leaders, UN-affiliated experts, Global South representatives and civil society groups.

The group said that congress is expected to culminate in the signing of the Brussels Declaration, a parliamentary initiative aimed at turning international legal obligations into concrete political action, including support for Palestinian self-determination and accountability mechanisms.

It also said the declaration is anticipated to outline steps towards establishing a humanitarian maritime corridor to Gaza, ending the military and political complicity and strengthening international accountability frameworks.

“As governments stall and institutions deflect, a convergence is forming. This mobilisation will bring those forces together, applying coordinated public pressure at the centre of European decision-making,” added the group.
