SINGAPORE, April 1 (Bernama) -- Microsoft Corporation on Wednesday announced a total of US$5.5 billion (US$1=RM 4.02) investment in cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure in Singapore through 2029.
Microsoft vice chair and president Brad Smith said the technology giant is on track to power Singapore’s AI future alongside the expansion of Microsoft Elevate programs.
“Our ongoing investment in cloud and AI infrastructure reflects Microsoft’s long-term confidence in Singapore as a global digital leader.
“Together, we are focused on helping people and organisations use AI by strengthening skills, increasing cybersecurity and resilience, and advancing trusted governance so technology delivers real benefits for Singaporeans,” he said in his keynote at the Asia Tech x Inspire event on Wednesday.
As part of Microsoft’s commitment, every tertiary education student in Singapore now has free access to Microsoft 365 Premium with Copilot and the company’s suite of productivity tools.
More than 200,000 students enrolled in university and vocational training institutions will have access to Microsoft 365 productivity tools.
In addition, Microsoft has expanded Microsoft Elevate for Educators to Singapore to build AI confidence in classrooms and introduced Microsoft Elevate for Changemakers to strengthen non-profit leadership with responsible AI.
“Microsoft will continue strengthening AI skills across sectors and communities, while increasing cybersecurity, resilience and trusted governance,” it added.
