KOTA KINABALU, Dec 23 (Bernama) -- Sabah Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Musa Aman has called on all Malaysians to continue fostering harmonious relations among people of different races and religions to ensure the sustainability of unity in the state.
He described the harmony enjoyed by Sabah’s multi-ethnic and multi-religious society, living peacefully and interdependently, as the state’s greatest strength that must be preserved.
“Our state and nation will surely prosper when the people uphold tolerance and mutual respect,” he said in his message in conjunction with Christmas 2025 and the New Year 2026 celebrations.
Tun Musa said this year’s Christmas celebration is not merely a festive occasion, but carries important messages of love, peace and hope that are vital in building a united society.
According to him, the celebration serves as an ideal platform to strengthen unity, nurture values of compassion and reinforce the spirit of togetherness among the people.
Touching on the challenges faced throughout 2025, he said Sabah had experienced various changes, including global economic uncertainty, climate change and the need to adapt to rapid technological developments.
“However, in facing these challenges, the people of Sabah have once again demonstrated their strength and resilience,” he said, adding that inclusive economic development remains a key priority of the state government.
He stressed that various inclusive initiatives are being implemented to ensure development benefits are distributed fairly between urban and rural communities, in line with the Sabah Maju Jaya aspirations.
Looking ahead to 2026, Tun Musa urged the people to cultivate renewed spirit and commitment to move forward and to face the rapidly changing world with confidence.
He also expressed his highest appreciation to members of the public service, security forces and community leaders for their commitment and cooperation in advancing the development of Sabah.
