Police Monitor Deviant Cult Movement From South Korea - Saifuddin Nasution

13/12/2025 02:46 PM

KULIM, Dec 13 (Bernama) -- Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the police are monitoring a South Korean cult movement reportedly active in Malaysia.

However, he said that the movement has not yet reached a level considered a threat to national security.

“I have been briefed by the Special Branch on the organisation, its activities, the involvement of local figures, and so forth.

“The key point is that it is indeed on the radar of our security forces,” he told reporters after launching the Back-to-School Programme here today.

Saifuddin Nasution said the movement’s activities generally appear harmless at first glance and do not seem to threaten national security.

He added that continuous police monitoring remains in place to detect any activities that could compromise security.

“Perhaps because of the way it presents itself, it has drawn the involvement of some political figures,” he said.

He was commenting on an investigation following claims by Perlis Mufti Datuk Dr Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin, who highlighted the existence of a deviant cult movement from South Korea allegedly active in the country.
