PUTRAJAYA, Nov 15 (Bernama) -- The selection of house units for participants of the Ampar Tenang People’s Housing Project (PPR) in Dengkil will be conducted through an open, manual ballot to ensure transparency.

In a statement today, the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) said each participant will draw their unit number publicly during the letter-of-offer handover ceremony, witnessed by all attendees, to guarantee a transparent process.

“This drawing method is used across all PPR projects under the National Housing Department and will continue to be implemented for Ampar Tenang PPR.

“Therefore, allegations of bias or special access to corner lots do not arise in the unit selection process,” the ministry said.

KPKT stressed that the process reflects its ongoing commitment to ensuring participant selection is conducted transparently, fairly and with integrity.

“With the provision of quality and sustainable housing in line with the Malaysia MADANI vision, KPKT remains committed to improving living standards and keeping the people at the centre of national development,” it said.

According to the statement, Ampar Tenang PPR was developed to relocate residents of the Taman Permata low-cost housing area, originally home to workers from the Perang Besar, Medingly, Galloway and Sedgely estates.

Built on 30 acres (12 hectares) of land contributed by the Selangor government, the project has been fully completed and will be ready for occupancy this year, with RM88 million development cost funded by the Federal Government.

The units offered are single-storey low-cost terrace houses priced at RM20,000 each, a rate set according to the purchase value of homes in Taman Permata, following a government decision on Oct 12, 2016.

The first phase of relocation, involving 161 participants, was carried out on Oct 6.
