Sarawak RDC signs MoA with CBV, Cambridge University

KUCHING, Dec 6  -- The Sarawak Research and Development Council (Sarawak RDC) today signed a memorandum of agreement (MoA) with Curtin Biovalley Sdn Bhd (CBV) to manage, operate and maintain the Sarawak Biovalley Pilot Plant located at Curtin University Malaysia Campus in Miri. 

Sarawak RDC was represented by its  general manager  Assoc. Professor Ts. Dr. Peter Morin Nissom and State Education, Science, and Technological Research Minister Datuk Seri Michael Manyin Jawong, while CBV by its directors,  Datuk Seri Fong Joo Chung and Azmi Bujang.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by Sarawak RDC deputy general manager Dr Ivan Yap Kok Seng  and CBV director Freddie Panau. 

Sarawak RDC, in a statement issued today, said the partnership with CBV is pilot project to provide support for the development of new products, assist industries and provide pilot plant or incubator services.

The duration of the MoA agreement with CBV is for 10 years, it said.

The Sarawak RDC also signed a MoA with University of Cambridge, United Kingdom, which involves a collaboration with Cambridge Academy of Therapeutic Sciences (CATS)  in areas of joint research and development projects, student and staff internship, and mobility exchange programme between Cambridge and Sarawak.

Manyin and Nissom signed the agreement on behalf of Sarawak RDC, while Cambridge University was represented by its director of CATS, Christopher Robin Lowe.

The agreement provides a framework to facilitate and expand science and technology cooperation between the two organisations, as well as a mechanism for research and development efforts that facilitate the exchange of scientific data and results, protect intellectual property rights, and establish partnerships between departments and institutes of Cambridge University and their counterpart research institutions in Sarawak.
