KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 12 (Bernama) -- After failing to get a podium finish in the first race yesterday, national rider Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman came out with a captivating performance to get into the second position of the ASB1000 class in the fifth round of the Asian Road Racing Championship (ARRC) at the Zhuhai International Circuit in China today.
The ONEXOX TKKR SAG Team racer who fell off his machine in the first race yesterday, clocked in at 20 minutes 38.931 seconds, just 1.394s behind Australian rider Broc Parkes of the Yamaha Racing Team ASEAN.
Parkes’ teammate Yuki Ito took third with a time of 20:39.944s, while Md Zahqwan Zaidi of Honda Asia Dream Racing with SHOWA who took first place yesterday, clocked in fourth at 20:40.184s.
"Yesterday I was a little disappointed after the fall, but today I was determined to overcome the disappointment. Everything went according to plan and my momentum during the second race today was also more stable.
“I had to work hard too because, in the beginning, my pace was slow. Most importantly, I managed to get onto the podium today and it was a great success for the team,” Azlan said in a statement issued by the race organiser today.
Azlan’s result today, however, did not change his overall position of third in the ASB1000 category with 139 points, while Parkes and Md Zaqhwan were in first and second with 188 and 153 points respectively.
The sixth round of the ARRC 2019 will take place at the Sepang International Circuit from Sept 19 to 22.
