Boy killed in freak bus accident was a sports enthusiast

PASIR PUTEH, July 4 (Bernama) -- Wan Muhammed Adam Mohd Suria, 12, who was killed when the floor panel of a bus gave way, is said to be active in sports and was keen in playing games such as chess, football and volleyball.

His mother, Nik Hasmani Mohamad, 44, said her son who had represented the school at Machang district level had earned several certificates for various games.

“He was also a prefect at Sekolah Kebangsaan Tok Bok," she told reporters when met at Tengku Anis Hospital Forensic Unit here this evening.

Wan Muhammed Adam was believed to have fallen off the bus onto the road while travelling from his school at Kampung Kandis here to Bukit Keluang, Terengganu to attend an English language workshop at about 12.50pm today.

He died at the scene due to severe injuries to the body. 

Nik Hasmani who was deeply saddened by the loss of her youngest child and only son said, her family has accepted Adam’s sudden demise as fate.

She said Adam’s remains would be buried at the Bukit Bakar Muslim cemetery tonight after the autopsy has been completed. 

Meanwhile, Pasir Puteh district police chief DSP Mohd Azmir Damiri in a statement said the victim was playing at the front portion of the bus, beside the driver’s seat when he suddenly fell through the rusty bus flooring.

He said the victim was among 31 Year Six pupils who were in the bus when the  incident occurred.

Kelantan State Education director, Abu Hanipah @Fauzi Zahari, when met at the hospital, said the department would issue a statement on the incident soon.
