11 PHR resort owners given four months to apply for operating licence

SEREMBAN, June 14 (Bernama) -- The owners of 11 resorts at Pantai Hills Resort (PHR) in Jalan Jelebu near here have been given four months beginning yesterday to apply for an operating licence from the Nilai Municipal Council (MPN).

State Urban Wellbeing, Housing, Local Government and New Village Committee chairman Teo Kok Seong said all the resorts, which have been operating for the past 10 years without a valid licence, must change their land use status from agriculture to commercial.

He said the owners should apply online for the licence from the MPN One Stop Centre (OSC) as this was a move by the government to ‘legalise’ their operations.

“Most importantly, all resort owners including landowners and homes should appoint consultant architects and engineers who will be responsible for the design and structural soundness of their buildings.

“This legalisation process cannot be carried out if they fail to get the signature of the consultant architect and engineer,” he told a press conference here today.

He said checks also showed that 13 more private resort owners have built structures on the agricultural land without running the business.

“They do not need to change the land requirement terms, but only need to send a building plan to the local authorities,” he said.

Teo said the main aim of the government enforcing the regulations was to assist the resort operators and at the same time to ensure the safety of visitors.

PHR, which spreads over 36.98 hectares, has 44 landowners and scores of luxury chalets which are rented out at RM800 to over RM1,000 per night.
