KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 29 (Bernama) -- Bursa Malaysia remained in the red at mid-afternoon on profit-taking in heavyweight stocks led by CelcomDigi, Maxis and IHH Healthcare.
Collectively, the three counters dragged the benchmark index down by 2.58 points.
At 3 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) declined 5.58 points to 1,607.98 from Tuesday’s close of 1,613.56. The FBM KLCI opened 1.01 points higher at 1,614.57.
Market breadth was negative, with 555 decliners thumping 333 gainers. A total of 492 counters remained unchanged, 1,356 untraded, and 77 suspended.
Turnover stood at 1.85 billion units worth RM1.33 billion.
CelcomDigi and IHH Healthcare shed five sen to RM3.59 and RM8.23, respectively, while Maxis slid six sen to RM3.78.
Among the heavyweights, Maybank and Public Bank declined by two sen each to RM9.86 and RM4.19, respectively. CIMB Group eased by one sen to RM7.38, while Tenaga Nasional remained flat at RM13.22. Press Metal Aluminium improved by one sen to RM6.22.
On the most active list, Perak Transit added five sen to 38.5 sen, while Borneo Oil and Powertechnic Group were flat at half-a-sen and 35 sen, respectively. Zetrix AI slipped 1.5 sen to 83.5 sen and Pharmaniaga shaved 1.0 sen to 24.5 sen.
Top gainers included Nestle, which added RM1.90 to RM109.00, Malayan Cement gained 32 sen to RM6.74, Chin Teck Plantations advanced 28 sen to RM11.28, Dufu Technology improved 14 sen to RM1.87, and Kelington Group rose 12 sen to RM5.47.
Top losers included Petronas Dagangan, which dropped 36 sen to RM22.10, Bintulu Port Holdings fell 26 sen to RM5.00, Kuala Lumpur Kepong declined 22 sen to RM20.64, Petronas Gas shed 12 sen to RM18.48, and Keck Seng eased eight sen to RM5.50.
On the index board, the FBM Emas Index decreased 37.57 points to 12,028.52, the FBMT 100 Index fell 39.24 points to 11,768.12, the FBM Emas Shariah Index dipped 40.14 points to 12,111.86, the FBM 70 Index tumbled 50.18 points to 17,133.34, and the FBM ACE Index slipped 10.49 points to 5,169.76.
Sector-wise, the Financial Services Index declined 36.11 points to 18,157.19, the Energy Index fell 2.48 points to 770.60, and the Plantation Index eased 33.17 points to 7,945.91.
The Industrial Products and Services Index edged up 0.33 of-a-point to 171.28,
