GOLD FUTURES END SLIGHTLY LOWER

KUALA LUMPUR, May 7 (Bernama) -- The gold futures contract on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives closed marginally lower today as the US dollar strengthened against other major currencies.

At the close, the spot month May 2024 contract slipped to US$2,326.0 per troy ounce from US$2,329.0 per troy ounce at Monday’s close.

The June 2024, July 2024, August 2024, October 2024 and December 2024 contracts all settled slightly lower at US$2,335.90 per troy ounce compared to US$2,339.60 on Monday.

Volume rose to 31 lots from 12 lots yesterday, while open interest increased to 51 contracts from 30 previously.

According to the London Bullion Market Association’s afternoon fix on May 3, the price of physical gold stood at US$2,294.45 per troy ounce.
