GOLD FUTURES END HIGHER

KUALA LUMPUR, May 6 (Bernama) -- The gold futures contract on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives ended higher today following the weaker-than-expected United States Nonfarm Payroll (NFP) data released last Friday.

At the close, the spot month May 2024 contract increased to US$2,329.0 per troy ounce from US$2,311.0 per troy ounce at Friday’s close.

The June 2024, July 2024, August 2024, October 2024 and December 2024 contracts all settled higher at US$2,339.60 per troy ounce compared with US$2,322.60 on Friday.

Volume rose to 12 lots from three lots last Friday, while open interest increased to 30 contracts from 22 previously.

According to the London Bullion Market Association’s afternoon fix on May 3, the price of physical gold stood at US$2,294.45 per troy ounce.
