KUALA LUMPUR, June 5 (Bernama) -- The Trooping of the Colours ceremony by the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) held in conjunction with the official birthday of Yang di-Pertuan Agong reflects the Malaysian Armed Forces’ (ATM) unwavering loyalty to the King and the nation.
Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the military tradition also plays a significant role in fostering patriotism while honouring the nation’s history and the sacrifices made in safeguarding its sovereignty.
“Congratulations to the 148 officers and 1,192 personnel from all three branches of the MAF who ensured the successful organisation of this ceremony.
“May all members of the MAF continue to be blessed with strength, good health and protection in carrying out their duty to safeguard the country’s peace and sovereignty,” he said in a Facebook post today.
Earlier, Fahmi attended the ceremonial event graced by the King, His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, at Dataran Pahlawan Negara in Putrajaya, alongside Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof and Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.
The ceremony is held three times during the five-year reign of each Malay Ruler appointed as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong - in the first, third and final years of the reign.
It also serves as a manifestation of the armed forces' oath and pledge of undivided loyalty to the King and the nation.
