KUALA LUMPUR, June 4 (Bernama) -- A total of 300 strategic partners and invited guests are expected to join the National Journalists' Day (HAWANA) 2026 Strategic Partners' Session at a hotel in the capital today.
The event, which will be officiated by Deputy Minister of Communications Teo Nie Ching, is held as a token of appreciation to strategic partners and sponsors who contributed and supported the organisation of HAWANA 2026.
Also expected to attend are the Ministry of Communications deputy secretary-general (Strategic Communications and Creative Industries) Datuk Bahria Mohd Tamil, Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) chairman Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai, Bernama chief executive officer Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin and Bernama editor-in-chief Arul Rajoo Durar Raj.
Bernama Commercial Department head Mastura Hassan said a total of 113 strategic partners will be involved in organising HAWANA this year, compared to 79 strategic partners last year.
Apart from the ceremony, the contents of HAWANA 2026 included the HAWANA 2026 Media Forum, HAWANA-DBP Pantun Festival, HAWANA Fun Walk, Mai RIUH@HAWANA as well as the Media Dinner with the Yang Dipertua Negeri Pulau Pinang Tun Ramli Ngah Talib.
The culmination of the HAWANA 2026 celebration will focus on the PICCA Convention Centre @ Butterworth Arena in Penang on June 20 with the presence of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim who is scheduled to officiate the occasion.
With the theme "Media with Integrity, Credibility at the Core", the largest gathering of the country's media community is an important arena to strengthen the professionalism of journalists in facing the increasingly challenging communications landscape.
The event is expected to bring together approximately 1,000 media practitioners from home and abroad, thus acting as a strategic platform to spark fresh ideas and determine the direction of current journalism.
HAWANA, organised by the Ministry of Communications with Bernama as the implementing agency, is a culminating platform in appreciating the contributions, diligence and professionalism of media practitioners in Malaysia.
