Aidiladha: State Leaders Urge Muslims To Embrace Spirit of Sacrifice

26/05/2026 10:31 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, May 26 (Bernama) -- Several state leaders have called on Muslims to reflect on the spirit of sacrifice, strengthen unity and deepen sincerity in life in conjunction with tomorrow’s Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration.

Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor has urged Muslims in the state to learn from the sacrifices of Prophet Ibrahim and Prophet Ismail in facing the challenges of daily life.

He said such a spirit of sacrifice requires perseverance that begins within oneself, alongside lessons drawn from the life of Prophet Muhammad SAW, which continues to serve as a source of inspiration and strength in efforts to develop the state.

“Let us all take the opportunity on this blessed day to pray for continued prosperity and safety for the people and the state,” he said in his Hari Raya Aidiladha message today.

Meanwhile, Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad said Aidiladha carries a deeper meaning beyond sacrifice, inspiring Muslims to continue giving, sharing and making sacrifices for the well-being of family, community, the state and the nation.

“It is also about sincerity, inner strength and gratitude for every blessing bestowed by Allah SWT. As we celebrate this blessed day, let us strengthen our bonds of kinship, forgive one another and continue extending our support to those in need,” he said in a Facebook post today.

In a separate post, Saarani prayed that all Malaysian haj pilgrims, especially those from Perak, would be granted ease in performing their pilgrimage and be blessed with a mabrur (accepted) haj.

Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said Aidiladha conveys the true meaning of sacrifice, reminding Muslims of their responsibilities to religion, family and society.

“May every sacrifice made be accepted by Allah SWT, blessed and serve as a symbol of sincerity, obedience and love for one another. Selamat menunaikan ibadah korban 1447H to all Muslims,” he said in a Facebook post.

In Terengganu, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said Aidiladha serves as a reminder to Muslims of the sacrifices of Prophet Ibrahim and Prophet Ismail, which stand as enduring symbols of obedience to Allah SWT.

Ahmad Samsuri said the spirit of sacrifice is also vital in life within the nation, including prioritising the interests of the people for future stability, while urging the public to face challenges with patience and maturity and to remain united in building a better future.

“There are times when decisions that need to be made are not easy, and times when leaders must choose the harder path for future stability. There are also times when the people must be patient in facing economic challenges, cost-of-living pressures and global uncertainties,” he said in a Facebook post.

However, he said history shows that a strong nation is one that is able to navigate challenges with patience, maturity and mutual trust.

Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh said Aidiladha brings profound meaning through the story of Prophet Ibrahim and Prophet Ismail, which symbolises obedience to Allah SWT.

“On behalf of the Melaka state government leadership, Selamat Menyambut Hari Raya Aidiladha to all Muslims in Malaysia, especially the people of Melaka.

“It is hoped that the spirit of sacrifice instilled through Aidiladha will strengthen relations among communities and unite hearts in building a more loving and blessed ummah,” he said in a statement on Facebook.

Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud said the various challenges and crises facing the world today require Muslims to continue sacrificing energy, time and wealth in defending the religion and in leading a life pleasing to Allah SWT.

“Therefore, Aidiladha is not just a festive occasion for gathering with family and enjoying meals, but a madrasah tarbiah that teaches Muslims the meaning of sacrifice and submission to Allah SWT,” he said.

He also called on Muslims to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people, describing their struggle to defend their faith, dignity and homeland from colonial oppression as a true reflection of sacrifice.
