Consumers Saved RM30.3 Mln Through Agro MADANI Sales Last Year - FAMA

KANGAR, May 22 (Bernama) -- The Agro MADANI Sales Programme recorded RM30.3 million in consumer savings through 4,695 programmes held nationwide last year.

Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) director-general, Abdul Rashid Bahri, said the initiative also benefited nearly 27.58 million households.

“FAMA will continue expanding the Agro MADANI Sales Programme nationwide so more people can enjoy lower prices, while helping entrepreneurs boost their competitiveness and income,” he said in a statement today.

The statement was issued in conjunction with the Agro MADANI Sales (JAM) programme Perlis Edition at the FAMA headquarters in Selayang today, officiated by the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail.

Also present was the Raja Puan Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Dr Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil.

Meanwhile, Abdul Rashid said the JAM Perlis Edition served as a platform to promote premium state products such as Perlis Harumanis mangoes to consumers in the Klang Valley, while supporting the national food security agenda and strengthening the local agro-marketing ecosystem.

He said two tonnes of Harumanis mangoes were brought in from Perlis to meet visitor demand, together with free distribution of vegetables and Harumanis Pulut Kucai for early visitors.

“Among the main attractions were the Happy Hour MADANI Combo priced from RM5 for the first 100 sets, as well as 1,500 kilogrammes (kg) of premium Perlis Harumanis mangoes sold at RM100 per three-kg box.

“Visitors could also buy fresh chicken at RM10 each, local beef at RM25 per kg and Sarawak Crystal Longan at RM15 per kg,” he said.

As of noon today, the programme recorded RM94,000 in sales, surpassing its RM60,000 target, with 30 entrepreneurs taking part.
