KUALA LUMPUR, May 21 (Bernama) -- Efforts to strengthen and expand support for veterans of the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) will continue to be a commitment of the Ministry of Defence, said Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.
He said the agenda of safeguarding the welfare of veterans is a highly important moral responsibility of the nation that cannot be neglected.
According to him, all contributions, services and sacrifices rendered by veterans in defending the country’s peace and sovereignty will always be appreciated and never forgotten.
“The Ministry of Defence will continue to pay attention to veterans, strengthen existing efforts and expand support for veterans from time to time,” he said in a post on his official X social media account today.
Earlier, Mohamed Khaled extended his congratulations to the Malaysian Armed Forces Veterans Association (PVATM) in conjunction with its 104th anniversary yesterday.
He described PVATM as one of the country’s largest and principal veterans associations, which has played an important role since its establishment in 1922.
“The association remains steadfast in representing and championing the welfare and interests of all ATM veterans in Malaysia,” he said.
Mohamed Khaled also expressed hope that PVATM would continue to maintain its momentum of excellence and remain a strong leading voice in championing the welfare of the nation’s former servicemen.
