KUALA TERENGGANU, May 20 (Bernama) -- The Central Terengganu Development Authority (KETENGAH) has taken proactive steps to reduce the rental rates of premises by 20 per cent starting in June.
KETENGAH chairman Datuk Rozi Mamat said the initiative is aimed at helping to ease the burden on the business community who have been affected by the recent increase in various costs, due to the global supply crisis.
He said the initiative involved 552 units of KETENGAH premises including stalls, food courts, shophouses and small and medium industry (SMI) factories in Bandar Al Muktafi Billah Shah, Ketengah Jaya, Bukit Besi, Seri Bandi, Ceneh Baharu and Tasik Kenyir.
"The Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) through KETENGAH is implementing a 20 per cent reduction in premises rental rates starting June 2026 to assist traders under its jurisdiction.
"The rental rates charged to traders after this reduction will start from as low as RM20 to RM1,200 per month, depending on the size and location of the premises," he said in a statement today.
Rozi said it is hoped the reduction would assist traders in facing the current global economic uncertainties.
It also coincides with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's directive that all government agencies should be sensitive and concerned about the challenges faced by traders.
