KUALA LUMPUR, May 6 (Bernama) -- Depositors of the National Education Savings Scheme (Simpan SSPN) will receive the highest dividend in 11 years following the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN)’s announcement of a 4.10 per cent dividend rate.
Its chairman, Datuk Seri Norliza Abdul Rahim, said the 2025 dividend distribution involves an estimated allocation of RM505.68 million, benefiting 6.07 million depositor accounts. This brings the total dividend paid since the scheme’s introduction in 2004 to RM2.63 billion.
She said the dividend will be credited directly into Simpan SSPN accounts, and depositors can check their statements via the myPTPTN application starting tomorrow.
Norliza said total deposits received last year amounted to RM3.33 billion, an increase of 4.86 per cent or RM154.10 million compared with RM3.17 billion in 2024.
“More than 500,000 new accounts were opened in 2025, bringing total deposits as at Dec 31 to RM23.88 billion, and this shows continued strong support from depositors.
“The higher dividend rate reflects PTPTN’s efficient fund management, supported by strong governance, integrity and strategic planning to ensure optimal returns for depositors,” Norliza said at the Simpan SSPN 2025 dividend announcement ceremony here today.
Also present were PTPTN chief executive Ahmad Dasuki Abdul Majid and its strategic partners.
Norliza noted that the 4.10 per cent dividend is higher than the 4.05 per cent declared for 2024.
She said the increase was supported by short and long-term Syariah-compliant investments in the money market and domestic sukuk, which preserve capital while delivering competitive returns.
“The 4.10 per cent dividend also represents a positive return compared with the Overnight Policy Rate set by Bank Negara Malaysia, which remained at 2.75 per cent throughout 2025.
“Simpan SSPN remains a safe and rewarding education savings platform,” she said, expressing appreciation to Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir for his continued support and commending the board of directors and management of PTPTN.
Norliza added that Simpan SSPN is the only savings product offering personal income tax relief of up to RM8,000 per year, along with free takaful protection for depositors and a matching grant of up to RM10,000 for eligible families.
She said the government has also expanded the SSPN Prime matching grant to households earning between RM4,000 and RM6,000 for two years under the Geran Padanan Ihsan (GAPAI) initiative, with grants of up to RM5,000 per family.
In addition, PTPTN is organising the Simpan SSPN 2026 Draw Campaign, offering prizes worth nearly RM1.4 million to 954 winners throughout the year.
