"Abang Minyak Hitam Jalanan", Dicky Honoured As "Sahabat Perpaduan MADANI"

PUTRAJAYA, April 27 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of National Unity has conferred the special “Sahabat Perpaduan MADANI” recognition on Mohd Yusof Mohd Noor, popularly known as “Abang Minyak Hitam Jalanan”, and Dicky in appreciation of their humanitarian spirit, sincerity and embodiment of national unity.

In a statement today, the office of Deputy National Unity Minister Yuneswaran Ramaraj said the recognition was presented as a tribute to ordinary Malaysians who perform extraordinary acts in the service of their communities.

The ministry said Mohd Yusof’s recent act of kindness, which went viral, deeply touched Malaysians after he came to Dicky’s aid, whose motorcycle had broken down, without expecting anything in return.

“The act not only reflects the value of kindness, but also demonstrates that true unity is nurtured through small, sincere actions,” read the statement.

Meanwhile, Yuneswaran said the story of Mohd Yusof and Dicky serves as a powerful reminder that unity is not confined to slogans, speeches or policies.

Rather, he said, it is best expressed through compassion, mutual assistance and solidarity across differences in race, religion, background and social status.

“What Mohd Yusof and Dicky have shown is a reflection of the Malaysia we love, a country built on the values of respect, compassion and togetherness,” he said.

The ministry expressed hope that their story would inspire more Malaysians to embrace a culture of helping one another, fostering mutual respect and preserving harmony in the country’s diverse society.

“In the spirit of Malaysia MADANI, every good deed that strengthens social cohesion deserves to be celebrated, recognised and emulated, so that the values of unity continue to thrive in the daily lives of the people,” read the statement.
