PUTRAJAYA, April 26 (Bernama) -- Valet NexaGuard Sdn Bhd and Universiti Selangor (UNISEL) have formed a strategic alliance to advance proactive digital security and talent development, aimed at strengthening national cyber resilience while nurturing future-ready graduates.
Valet NexaGuard chief executive officer Prof Dr Shaikh Harun Mustafa said the collaboration integrates industry expertise with academic rigour to equip young people with essential digital skills and entrepreneurial resilience needed to thrive in an increasingly complex digital economy.
He said the partnership will focus on developing structured certification programmes and training academies to enhance students’ communication skills, digital awareness and industry readiness.
“This collaboration is not only about talent development, but also about strengthening national digital security through proactive measures. Combating fraud today requires a shift from reactive responses to continuous innovation and prevention,” he told Bernama.
Valet NexaGuard is a security-driven technology organisation in Malaysia, dedicated to strengthening national digital security and promoting inclusive digital growth.
Shaikh Harun said both parties would explore efforts to enhance telecommunications security through the development and integration of ValetShield infrastructure, supported by continuous research and development (R&D).
He said the system would evolve through constant learning based on global trends in network-level threats such as spam, fraudulent SMS, scam calls and deepfake content.
To complement these technological advancements, both parties would also collaborate on developing and delivering digital awareness and safety programmes, initially integrated into academic curricula before being expanded to the wider public.
Valet NexaGuard is among three industry partners that have formalised collaboration with UNISEL through its Faculty of Communication, Visual Arts and Computing (FCVAC), alongside Dive Buddy and Prestige Media.
The collaboration was formalised through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU), which is expected to create broader opportunities for students in professional training, mobility and industry-based skills development.
Through the partnership, students will benefit from stronger academic-industry linkages through knowledge exchange, particularly in research, as well as exposure to experiential learning, including water safety and underwater photography.
The collaboration also provides avenues for students to enhance their creative and entrepreneurial capabilities through participation in industry projects and practical training.
