PM Anwar Orders Close Monitoring Of WFH Policy, Including Proof Of Presence - Fahmi

PUTRAJAYA, April 15 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has instructed Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar to closely monitor the implementation of the work-from-home (WFH) policy across the federal public sector.

MADANI Government spokesperson Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the directive issued at the Cabinet meeting today includes a requirement to verify the presence of civil servants during the WFH period.

“However, government service delivery to the public, particularly counter services, will continue to operate as usual,” he said at the weekly press conference after the meeting.

The Communications Minister said the government has reiterated its call for the private sector to consider adopting WFH arrangements where applicable.

The WFH policy for the federal civil service took effect nationwide today, involving about 200,000 employees as a preparedness measure in response to the global energy crisis triggered by conflict in West Asia.

The policy applies to federal civil servants in Putrajaya, Kuala Lumpur and all state capitals, particularly those living more than eight kilometres from their workplaces.

However, it does not apply to personnel in security and defence, healthcare and education sectors.

Implementation varies by state and weekly rest days. For states observing Sunday as the weekly holiday, WFH will be carried out from Tuesday to Thursday, while states with Friday as the weekly holiday will implement it from Monday to Wednesday.
