3,333 Certified As Integrity Officers Since 2010

14/04/2026 02:57 PM

BANGI, April 14 (Bernama) -- A total of 3,333 officers have been accredited as Certified Integrity Officers (CeIOs) since the programme was launched by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in 2010.

MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said these officers can contribute to reinforcing internal controls and to nurturing a more widespread culture of integrity within their respective organisations.

“The CeIO programme has been designed comprehensively to ensure participants not only understand legal and compliance issues, but are also able to carry out anti‑corruption prevention duties, manage integrity matters, and provide effective governance advice,” he said while delivering his speech at the 12th CeIO Convocation here today.

A total of 486 officers from the public sector, government interest companies (SBK)  and the private sector who completed the ten CeIO programme series in 2025 were certified at the ceremony.

Azam said the main challenge facing the public service today is not a lack of policy or planning, but ensuring that every decision is implemented effectively and delivers real, tangible benefits to the people.

He said the gap between decisions and implementation must be addressed seriously to create an effective, responsive, and trusted administration.

At the same time, Azam said the Malaysian Anti‑Corruption Academy (MACA) has developed a new 2026 Prime Minister’s Directive for the CeIO programme to keep it aligned with the national agenda and enhance the efficiency of service delivery.

He said the new directive was approved at the Cabinet Special Committee on National Governance (JKKTN) meeting on March 12, which updated the CeIO implementation framework, refined the programme’s objectives, and better aligned its functions with the Integrity Units (UI) and Integrity and Governance Units (IGU).

The CeIO programme was introduced under Prime Minister’s Directive No. 1 of 2009 to strengthen governance and integrity in the public sector, SBKs, and the private sector.
