KUALA LUMPUR, March 17 (Bernama) -- The National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) has extended the MADANI Sustainable Student Assistance to 72 underprivileged students from two higher education institutions, easing their financial burden throughout their studies.
PTPTN chairman Norliza Abdul Rahim said each student from Nilai Polytechnic and Port Dickson Polytechnic received a one-off RM500 contribution, bringing the total allocation to RM36,000.
“Through this initiative, we hope students will be better able to manage financial challenges and receive additional support throughout their studies,” she said at the PTPTN Iftar Ceremony with the media yesterday.
Her speech was delivered by PTPTN chief operating officer Mastura Mohd Khalid.
Norliza added that PTPTN continues to organise various corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives during Ramadan, including the PTPTN Ramadan Imarah Programme (IMRAN) at institutions of higher learning, the Jom Kejut Sahur Programme, and the Celebrate Syawal Programme with orphans and underprivileged children.
She said the corporation remains committed to expanding CSR efforts, particularly in supporting students’ educational and welfare needs.
Norliza also expressed appreciation to media practitioners for their role in disseminating information about PTPTN, including raising awareness on the importance of loan repayment and promoting financial planning through the National Education Savings Scheme (SSPN).
“As the nation’s leading higher education fund, PTPTN continues to strengthen efforts to cultivate a savings culture through SSPN, helping reduce reliance on loans and ensuring graduates are not burdened with debt,” she said.
Meanwhile, aid recipient Ahmad Imran Idris, 22, a student at Port Dickson Polytechnic, said the assistance provided much-needed relief as he currently works part-time as a food delivery rider to support his daily expenses.
“This assistance will help cover my study-related costs. My mother is a single parent and unemployed, so it really eases my burden, especially during Ramadan when delivery orders are fewer,” he said.
Another recipient, Nor Najwa Jasman, 21, from Nilai Polytechnic, said the contribution helped ease financial pressure related to both her studies and daily living.
She added that despite her parents’ modest income, she is determined to make full use of the assistance and her PTPTN loan to excel academically and improve her family’s future.
