KUALA LUMPUR, March 7 (Bernama) -- Two siblings whose father was among the victims of the house fire tragedy in Kampung Pamah Kulat, Ulu Dong in Raub are eligible to receive the Social Security Organisation (PERKESO) Survivor’s Pension.
Ruby Adalia Balqis Mohd Alawi, 19, and her brother Ahmad Balia Murqam Mohd Alawi, 15, received a one-off Funeral Management Benefit of RM3,000 on Feb 27, while a monthly Survivor’s Pension of RM373.20, which has already been approved, will be credited to them soon.
In a statement today, PERKESO group chief executive officer Mohammed Azman Aziz Mohammed said that records showed the contribution status of their late father was still active.
He said the late Mohd Alawi Muhammad had previously worked in the formal sector and contributed to the LINDUNG Pekerja scheme through employment with 11 employers since 1990.
“The PERKESO Prihatin Squad, which was alerted to the tragic news, visited the family on the day of the incident to expedite checks and the processing of benefits,” Mohammed Azman said in a statement after a Ziarah Prihatin visit to the family’s residence in Kampung Pamah Kulat today.
On Feb 26, the nation was shocked by the house fire, which claimed the lives of five family members, namely Mohd Alawi, 56; his wife Zaleha Adam @ Ibrahim, 44; and their three daughters Ruby Adira Batrisya, 17, Ruby Adlina Banin, 14, and Ruby Azyan Barizah, 10.
Mohammed Azman added that further intervention measures have been taken by registering the surviving children under PERKESO’s Prihatin Keluarga Angkat Programme (PROTEK) to ensure their welfare, education and social needs continue to be safeguarded.
Through the programme, PERKESO will provide educational support to Ruby Adalia, who is currently pursuing her studies at Pahang Matriculation College, including assistance with learning equipment.
For her younger brother Ahmad Balia, who is studying at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Dong, PERKESO will provide financial assistance for school supplies and preparations to ensure the continuity of his education.
