AEON Bank Introduces Seamless zakat Payments For Ramadan, Partners With Tulus Digital

04/03/2026 09:48 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, March 4 (Bernama) -- AEON Bank (M) Bhd (AEON Bank) has launched its zakat payment feature on its digital banking application, enabling Muslim customers to fulfil their zakat fitrah (personal tithe) obligation seamlessly during Ramadan.

According to AEON Bank, the feature was introduced through a strategic partnership with Tulus Digital, an Islamic social finance fintech platform, which serves as an authorised agent of the state zakat authorities, including Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council Zakat Collection Centre (PPZ-MAIWP) and Selangor Zakat Board (LZS).

The bank said the collaboration provides a sah (valid), secure and seamless end-to-end digital solution, which effectively brings the zakat payment directly to customers’ smartphones.

“The introduction of the zakat feature on the AEON Bank app further strengthens the bank’s suite of digital utility services, seamlessly integrating financial and Syariah obligations in one secure digital platform. The service currently facilitates payments for PPZ-MAIWP and LZS.

“AEON Bank will progressively enable contributions to other state zakat authorities in the near future, as part of its commitment to expand accessible and trusted digital financial solutions, anchored on Syariah governance and integrity,” it said in a statement.

The zakat payment feature supports 11 types of zakat, including zakat fitrah (personal), Pendapatan (Income), Perniagaan (Business), Emas (Gold) and Employees Provident Fund (EPF), among others, and incorporates a built-in digital aqad (contract) to ensure that every payment is valid and compliant with Syariah principles.

Upon successful transaction, customers will receive an immediate receipt in the application, followed by a notification email from Tulus Digital, sent to their registered email address, while official tax-deductible receipts issued by the respective zakat agencies can be accessed via the agencies’ websites.

AEON Bank chief executive officer Raja Datin Paduka Teh Maimunah Raja Abdul Aziz, in the same statement, said the partnership with Tulus Digital is about merging ethical technology, just in time for Ramadan, allowing customers to focus more easily on fulfilling their Rukun Islam (Pillars of Islam) easily.

“At AEON Bank, we believe that digital banking should be more than just about managing money; it should also support your lifestyle and values. By enabling the zakat feature in our app, we are fulfilling the amanah (trust) to make mandatory religious obligations as convenient and stress-free as possible,” she said.

Meanwhile, Tulus Digital Commercial director Ubaida Othman said that the strategic partnership with AEON Bank will strengthen Malaysia’s Islamic finance digital economy by combining ethical technology, Syariah governance and purpose-driven financial innovation.

“Our key focus is to enable secure, Syariah guided digital payments and social finance solutions. Tulus Digital provides payment settlement via secure API integrations, mobile applications, and enterprise-grade payment rails, directly into institutional bank accounts, serving state zakat authorities, corporate partners, and financial institutions across Malaysia,” he added.
