KUALA LUMPUR, March 3 (Bernama) -- National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang extended Chap Goh Mei greetings to the Chinese community and urged Malaysians to continue safeguarding unity and harmony.
In a Facebook post, he said Chap Goh Mei is not merely the closing of the Chinese New Year celebration, but symbolises hope, love and togetherness.
He noted that in Malaysia, every festive occasion provides an opportunity to strengthen bonds, bridge differences and reinforce family values across races and religions.
“The diversity we possess is an invaluable national asset that must be preserved with wisdom and sincerity. Religious and racial sensitivities must never be politicised or used to create division,” he said.
Aaron added that sustaining harmony requires Malaysians to seek common ground and uphold mutual understanding and respect.
This includes making an effort to understand an issue before speaking and respecting others before taking action.
”A united nation is strong, stable and trusted. Unity is a shared responsibility,” he said.
