DUNGUN, March 3 (Bernama) -- The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) has allocated RM1.2 million to implement the Rahmah Madani Sales Programme (PJRM) across eight parliamentary constituencies in Terengganu in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
Its Terengganu director, Mohd Mufsi Lat, said the allocation involves RM150,000 for each participating parliamentary constituency to ensure essential goods are sold at reasonable prices during the PJRM, which will be held simultaneously statewide on March 14.
He said the eight locations are Kampung Raja (Besut), Kampung Telaga Papan (Setiu), Dataran Masjid Tok Jembal (Kuala Nerus), Kampung Losong (Kuala Terengganu), Kampung Pengadang Baru (Marang), Dewan Sivik Ajil (Hulu Terengganu), Dewan Arena Merdeka (Dungun) and Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Permai (Kemaman).
“Consumers will have the opportunity to purchase essential items such as meat, chicken, rice, spices and others at special discounts ranging from 10 to 30 per cent off the original prices,” he told reporters after visiting the Ramadan Bazaar in Paka near here yesterday.
According to him, the programme will also be enlivened by the participation of strategic partners offering a variety of essential goods, including festive necessities such as traditional kuih, clothing and the latest accessories.
Also present was Petronas Dagangan Berhad (PDB) senior manager Ali Azanullah M Razali, who presented contributions of 100 gas cylinders and aprons to traders at the bazaar.
Mohd Mufsi said traders participating in the Aidilfitri PJRM would not face stock limits on goods sold to ensure more consumers have the opportunity to purchase items for their festive preparations.
“Consumers in Terengganu are urged not to miss the opportunity to shop at the Aidilfitri PJRM to save on expenses in preparation for the celebration,” he said.
He added that KPDN is also implementing the MySaveFood Ramadan or IHSAN Food Bank programme to collect surplus food from eight Ramadan Bazaar locations statewide from Feb 23 until March 13.
