KUALA LUMPUR, March 2 (Bernama) -- The Malbatt Village facility in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan, will serve as an interim training site for National Service Training Programme 3.0 (PLKN 3.0) from Series 2/2026 beginning April 25.
National Service Training Department director-general Datuk Ya’cob Samiran said the strategic move follows technical challenges and procurement governance constraints that have delayed the upgrading of 11 Territorial Army camps earmarked for the programme.
He said the temporary arrangement will run until June 8 to ensure continuity of PLKN 3.0.
With adequate infrastructure and support facilities, he said the Malbatt Village can accommodate between 600 and 700 trainees at a time.
“The use of Malbatt Village is not merely a logistical solution but reflects the strong support of the Malaysian Armed Forces and the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) in advancing a high-impact national agenda.
“The initiative would reinforce efforts to achieve PLKN 3.0’s objectives of nurturing patriotic, united and civic-minded youth, while cultivating a high spirit of volunteerism,” he told reporters after the passing-out parade for PLKN 3.0 Series 1/2026, held simultaneously at two camps today.
A total of 833 trainees, comprising 556 men and 277 women, completed the programme, which began on Jan 17.
At the passing-out parade, Maria Clara Samin from Sandakan, Sabah, was named the Best Female Trainee of Camp 515 Kuala Lumpur, while Muhammad Afiq Fiqri Zulhakebar from Perak was crowned the Best Male Trainee of Camp 505 Pekan, Pahang.
Also present were Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul and MINDEF secretary-general Datuk Lokman Hakim Ali.
For the next intake, the department urged prospective trainees, particularly those born in 2008, to monitor official announcements and check the ePLKN system regularly.
