Inclusive JPN Outreach Delivers Birth Certificates To Six Siblings In Cherating

15/02/2026 10:58 PM

KUANTAN, Feb 15 (Bernama) -- The Pahang National Registration Department (JPN) today delivered birth certificates to six siblings in Cherating here, following earlier reports that the children had no identification documents.

In a statement, Pahang JPN said the case involved Hazlina Husin’s six children, aged 11 to 23, who previously did not possess birth certificates or identity cards, affecting their access to education, employment opportunities, as well as government facilities and assistance.

“As a single mother, Hazlina also faces challenges supporting her family, including caring for a bedridden child with disabilities,” the statement said.

The certificates were presented by JPN director-general Badrul Hisham Alias at the family’s home, in an inclusive and compassionate approach in line with the aspirations of the MADANI government.

According to the statement, Pahang JPN conducted a preliminary investigation on Jan 28 at their home, in collaboration with the state Women and Social Development Unit.

Initial checks found that one of the main factors contributing to the delay in birth registration was the verification of the parents’ marriage, as legally recognised marriage documents in Malaysia are required for the birth registration process.

Pahang JPN said that Hazlina, along with five of her children, the organiser and witnesses, went to the department’s office on Feb 3 to complete the Late Birth Registration application, including an interview session.

For Hazlina’s child with disabilities, Pahang JPN’s MEKAR (Menyemai Kasih Rakyat) team visited the family’s home on Feb 11 to complete the registration process.

“Pahang JPN remains committed to ensuring that all eligible citizens receive their identification documents in accordance with the law and urges the public to register all vital events, including births, marriages and deaths, within the stipulated period to prevent any future complications,” the statement said.
