DKKN 2026-2030 To Ensure Family Wellbeing Amid Future Challenges - Nancy

14/02/2026 03:46 PM

IPOH, Feb 14 (Bernama) -- The National Family Compassion Policy (DKKN), launched today, reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring families in Malaysia remain strong, resilient and protected in facing future challenges, said Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri.

She said the policy provides a comprehensive framework to keep family well-being at the heart of national development, especially amid socio-economic change and digital transformation.

“The policy adopts a life-cycle approach, from pre-marriage and family formation to parenthood and old age, ensuring every stage of life receives proper attention.

“To ensure clear and focused implementation, the National Family Action Plan 2026-2030 (PTKN) has been introduced, assigning responsibilities to ministries, agencies, the private sector, NGOs and the wider community,” she said.

She was speaking at the launch of the DKNN and People's Wellbeing Insurance Scheme (SIKR) initiatives at the Sultan Azlan Shah Health Ministry Training Institute, here today.

Earlier, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim launched the DKKN. His wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad were also in attendance.

Meanwhile, Nancy said the policy’s effectiveness will be measured biennially through the Family Wellbeing Index, noting that it emphasises the K.A.S.I.H elements as a key foundation for building harmonious and thriving families.

K.A.S.I.H refers to Kasih sayang (love), Akhlak (morals), Sihat dan Selamat (healthy and safe), Ilmu (knowledge) and Harmoni (harmony).

“These values of love will be put into practice through a range of programmes. We are focusing more on parenting initiatives to help reduce issues like teenage pregnancy, which has been raised as a concern internationally.

“We just returned from the Convention on the Rights of the Child in Geneva, and this was one of the issues they urged us to tackle,” she said.

The DKKN is driven by five strategic pillars: Upholding Marriage and Family Institutions; Strengthening Family Planning Capabilities; Enhancing Parenting Skills and Quality; Supporting Inclusive Family Empowerment; and Improving Family Conflict Management.

It also features 16 strategies, three facilitation mechanisms, and 43 coordinated actions to strengthen family institutions in Malaysia.
