IPOH, Feb 13 (Bernama) -- Kampung Kasi founder and former Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) serviceman E. Kasinadan died of old age at his home in Kampung Kasi near Beruas at about 5 am today. He was 85.
He is survived by nine children, seven sons and two daughters, including K. Ghandi, an editor with the Policy and Strategic Planning Division of the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama).
Ghandi said his father founded Kampung Kasi about 44 years ago near Saffora Estate, opening and developing the settlement that later grew into a permanent local community.
He said Kasinadan served in the Malaysian Armed Forces with the 503 AW Regiment from Jan 6, 1966 to Jan 5, 1982, and was involved in operations against communist insurgents during his service.
After retiring from the military, Kasinadan chose to remain in Kampung Kasi and spent the rest of his life there, he added.
Ghandi said his father was also active in politics and community work, including serving as head of the Kampung Kasi MIC branch and participating in various local associations and non-governmental organisations.
“He was a firm and disciplined person who placed great emphasis on education and always wanted his children to be independent and succeed,” he said, adding that Kasinadan often reminded his family to uphold integrity, mutual respect and community spirit.
Kasinadan will be cremated at the Manjung Hindu Sabah Crematorium in Sitiawan at 1 pm tomorrow.
