13/02/2026 02:58 PM

PUTRAJAYA, Feb 13 (Bernama) -- The government has set up a special committee to investigate allegations and related matters involving Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki, said Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil.

Speaking at his weekly press conference here today, Fahmi said the special committee would be chaired by Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar.

“Once the investigation is completed, the findings will be reported back to the Cabinet for any follow-up action.

“This is part of our effort to ensure transparency and integrity in conducting the investigation,” said Fahmi, who is also the MADANI Government spokesman.

Bloomberg had previously reported that Azam held millions of shares in a financial services company, based on corporate filings.

However, Azam recently stressed at a press conference that his RM800,000 shareholding in the financial services company was acquired transparently and in accordance with proper procedures.

He said the matter was not concealed and had been fully declared, and that the shares, which were purchased last year, were disposed of within the same year.
