MyCreative Set To Push Local Creative Industry Into Indonesia, Singapore - Fahmi

12/02/2026 04:28 PM

PUTRAJAYA, Feb 12 (Bernama) -- My Creative Ventures (MyCreative) will, for the first time, bring several local entrepreneurs to Indonesia and Singapore this year to showcase their artistic and creative works in the two countries.

Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the move is part of efforts to strengthen support for the creative industry, which can play a crucial role in the country's economic development.

"I'm happy to announce that MyCreative will this year, insya-Allah, for the first time, take several local entrepreneurs, who we have featured in the Riuh series, to two ASEAN countries, namely Indonesia and Singapore.

"So, insya-Allah we will give the strongest support to MyCreative because we see this creative industry capable of playing a vital role in our country's economic development,” he said at the Communications Ministry's monthly assembly here today.

In clarifying the matter to reporters after the assembly, Fahmi said that MyCreative will decide the dates for the visit to the two countries.

Fahmi also said that several local films had previously succeeded in the foreign market, such as Papa Zola, which penetrated cinemas in Indonesia.

He said that through such efforts, the Communications Ministry will emphasise efforts to produce more producers and those capable of helping the local creative industry to penetrate the global market.

He added that these efforts are not solely limited to MyCreative or the ministry, but instead involve other agencies, including the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS), which is clearly well-versed with the ins and outs of the creative and film industries.

Commenting on the challenges of exporting creative products, he said not all local products can be easily marketed internationally, particularly in the fashion and food and beverage (F&B) sectors.

"That's because most of the products, especially in fashion and F&B, are not easy to export. So, we need more efforts to help bring their creative material to the international stage,” he said.

MyCreative is a government-owned investment company aimed at spurring the local creative industry.
