Allianz Malaysia, YKPM See Encouraging Progress In Orang Asli Programme

06/02/2026 08:51 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 6 (Bernama) -- Allianz Malaysia Berhad’s (Allianz Malaysia) corporate social responsibility arm, together with social partner Yayasan Kajian dan Pembangunan Masyarakat (YKPM), is seeing encouraging progress among participants of the Orang Asli Sustainable Livelihood Green Economy Programme.

Allianz Malaysia, in a statement today, said that, as of January, the initiative has empowered 42 Orang Asli families on generating substantial income, alongside continued investments in infrastructure development to support long-term sustainability.

The programme, implemented since 2024, aims to empower Orang Asli communities in Pekan, Pahang, to learn, build, and lead self-sustaining social enterprises through agroforestry, while strengthening food security and enabling them to rise above the poverty threshold.

It said a strategic expansion into a new phase that began in August 2025 has extended the programme’s reach to 70 farmers from 42 households, positively impacting 1,318 villagers across six villages.

Allianz Malaysia chief executive officer Sean Wang said the new phase provides an enhanced foundation through collective farming practices, more centralised infrastructure, efficient logistics, broader income-generating opportunities, as well as leadership and community development initiatives.

“At Allianz Malaysia, we believe true empowerment happens when communities are given the tools, confidence and opportunities to lead their own progress.

“Through this programme, we are proud to walk alongside the Orang Asli community as they build sustainable livelihoods that can support their families and future generation,” he said.

Meanwhile, YPKM managing director Kon Onn Sein said funding from Allianz Malaysia has enabled the foundation to deepen its support for the Orang Asli community to become self-sustaining.

“The funding also enables us to build a systematic and sustainable programme and process that leads to the upliftment of poverty and social transformation of the Orang Asli community,” he said.
