Communications Ministry Sec-Gen Visits Bernama

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 5 (Bernama) -- Communications Ministry secretary-general Datuk Abdul Halim Hamzah today paid a working visit to the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) headquarters here.

It was Abdul Halim’s first visit to Bernama since his appointment on Nov 24 last year.

He was welcomed by Bernama chairman Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai, chief executive officer Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin, editor-in-chief Arul Rajoo Durar Raj, deputy editor-in-chief (News Services) Mohd Shukri Ishak, acting deputy editor-in-chief (Economic News Services) Harlina Samson, and senior management of the agency, upon arrival at 3.15 pm.

Apart from meeting with the management team, Abdul Halim was also briefed on the agency’s operations to gain a closer understanding of its role in strengthening national information delivery.

On Jan 24, Abdul Halim said the Communications Ministry’s strategic direction would be anchored on the 3P approach - Policy, Product and People - aimed at delivering more integrated, focused and high-impact services to the public over the next five years. 

He said the approach involved comprehensive coordination among all departments and agencies under the ministry.

Prior to joining the Communications Ministry, Abdul Halim served as the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) director-general. He was also deputy secretary-general (Finance and Development) at the Prime Minister’s Department in 2023.

Aged 55, Abdul Halim has nearly 30 years of experience in the civil service, having begun his career as an assistant director at the Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU), Prime Minister’s Department.
