01/02/2026 08:45 PM

KANGAR, Feb 1 (Bernama) -- The Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs) has donated RM150,000 to aid flood victims in Aceh, Indonesia, demonstrating its commitment to global humanitarian efforts.

MAIPs chief executive officer Mohd Nazim Mohd Noor said the funds were raised through a coordinated drive at 101 mosques across the state under the Aceh Flood Victims Humanitarian Fund. He added that the mosques’ participation highlights their role as centres for welfare and community solidarity beyond geographical boundaries.

“This contribution is a trust from the people of Perlis. The collection shows the strength of our solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Aceh, who are facing the devastating floods,” he said in a statement today.

The symbolic handover was officiated by the Raja Muda of Perlis and MAIPs president, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, during the Perlis International Sunnah Convention 2026 yesterday.

Mohd Nazim said the initiative reflects the state’s concern for the disaster, which caused widespread property damage and loss of life.

Yayasan Ubudiah Aceh was selected as the implementing partner in collaboration with the Malaysian Consulate General in Medan, North Sumatra, due to its experience and network in the affected areas.
