19/01/2026 04:42 PM

BUTTERWORTH, Jan 19 (Bernama) -- Penang state government Islamic agencies have been urged to strengthen strategic collaboration to ensure the Penang State Islamic Religious Development Agenda 2030 (APAI 2030) can be achieved comprehensively and effectively.

Deputy Chief Minister I Datuk Dr Mohamad Abdul Hamid said APAI 2030 is an important concept that must be understood and appreciated by every state government Islamic agency personnel because it serves as the key action plan in efforts to uphold the values of Islam in the state.

"In line with the Penang Vision 2030 agenda to create a Family-focused Green and Smart State that Inspires the Nation in terms of Islamic development in Penang, the state government has introduced APAI 2030, which serves as the main idea for the action plan to strengthen Islamic values in the state.

"This crucial agenda is activated together by all state Islamic agencies to ensure there is no big gap between Muslims and other races by 2030,” he said at the Penang Islamic Religious Agencies Gathering and the launch of the APAI 2030 Strategic Plan Book at Dewan Wisma Al-Ansar, Masjid Al-Muhajirin Seberang Jaya here today.

He said the Islamic development agenda is based on five main thrusts: Socio-economic Development, Educational Development, Family Development, Youth Development and the Dakwah and Tarbiah Development.

Mohamad said this has been initiated through 14 strategies and 70 action plans that are inclusive, starting from March 2024, with the Penang State Islamic Intellectual and Civilisation Research Centre (Al-Hady Centre) serving as a think tank and secretariat.

The Penang Islamic Religious Council (MAINPP) president said the APAI 2030 Strategic Plan Book, launched today, was handed over to 11 state Islamic agency heads and hopes it will be the main guide for a more systematic implementation of projects, which will be monitored annually.

Earlier, about 400 personnel from 11 Islamic religious agencies under the state government participated in the event, which is being held for the second time.
