KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 16 (Bernama) -- Sayang Green 2026, a sustainability initiative that promotes simple and practical green practices in the daily lives of Malaysians, was launched today at a shopping centre here.
The three-day programme, which runs until Jan 18, is organised by 180 Degrees Brandcom and adopts an approach that makes sustainability more accessible, affordable and closely aligned with the public’s daily routines, particularly through small changes in everyday habits.
Founder of 180 Degrees Brandcom and Sayang Green initiator Chan Fong said the initiative was created to shift the sustainability discourse from mere awareness to actions that the public can start taking now.
“Sustainability is no longer a distant issue; it’s already part of our daily reality. Sayang Green was created to make greener living feel doable.
“It’s not about changing everything overnight, but about empowering people to start with simple switches that fit naturally into everyday Malaysian life,” he said at the launch.
He said the main focus of Sayang Green is to demonstrate how small changes in daily habits, such as reuse practices, waste reduction and more responsible consumption choices, can have a meaningful impact on the environment when carried out consistently.
Chan said the practical approach is important as sustainability challenges are becoming increasingly intertwined with everyday life, with issues such as plastic waste, pollution and environmental pressure no longer isolated, but directly affecting society.
At the same event, Sayang Green 2026 received recognition from ASEAN Records, acknowledging the consistent and comprehensive application of sustainability principles across the planning, design and execution of the event throughout all functional zones.
The programme also involves collaboration with strategic partners, including Alliance Bank Malaysia Berhad, in line with efforts to promote sustainability practices that can be widely adopted in the daily lives of the community.
