SHAH ALAM, Jan 13 (Bernama) -- The Advanced Technology College of the Department of Manpower (ADTEC JTM) achieved a 95.5 per cent graduate employability rate last year, demonstrating the effectiveness of its training in meeting the needs of industry and the country’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) labour market.

Human Resource Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan said that out of 33 campuses nationwide, including two satellite campuses in Sabah and Sarawak, four campuses — Pasir Gudang, Johor; Bukit Katil, Melaka; Kota Kinabalu, Sabah; and Kepala Batas, Penang — recorded a 100 per cent graduate employability rate.

“We do not have data dating back to its establishment in 1969. However, between 2010 and 2026, more than one million students have been trained at this institution, with 97.2 per cent of employers expressing satisfaction with the employees they have recruited, reflecting the quality of the workforce produced.

“All these are outstanding achievements, as not all institutions are able to attain such results,” he told a press conference after visiting the college’s Shah Alam campus here today.

Ramanan added that ADTEC JTM has established partnerships with about 400 companies, including Proton, Petronas and Huawei, to ensure employment opportunities for its graduates, and aims to increase this number to 600 by 2030.

He said the ministry will also strengthen the development of the institution through the provision of funding based on the specific needs of each campus, to ensure ADTEC JTM continues to operate at optimum capacity, further enhancing its effectiveness in producing high-quality graduates.

“At the Shah Alam campus, there is a site where a new aircraft hangar will be constructed with an allocation of RM20 million, and work will commence this year,” he said.

During the visit, Ramanan also witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between ADTEC JTM and Malaysia Airlines Berhad Engineering Services (MABES).

The MoU seeks to provide skills training and employment opportunities for selected students of the Aircraft Maintenance Programme.
