PADANG RENGAS, Jan 3 (Bernama) -- A total of 500 students in the Padang Rengas parliamentary constituency received RM50,000 in assistance under the Sumbangan Kasih MADANI: Back to School 2026 programme to help ease the financial burden on families ahead of the new school session.
Political secretary to the Finance Minister Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim said the recipients comprised students aged between seven and 18 from low-income families.
“The selection of beneficiaries was carried out by the Kuala Kangsar District Education Office, complementing the more than RM800 million allocated by the government recently for the Early Schooling Assistance (BAP) programme,” he told reporters after officiating the programme here today.
He expressed hope that the assistance would be utilised by parents to purchase essential school supplies for their children.
Meanwhile, recipient Che Normah Ahmad, 71, said the aid would be used to buy school necessities for her eight-year-old grandson, Ahmad Iman Izz Qarish Abdullah, who has been undergoing treatment for blood cancer since birth.
She said assistance programmes such as this are meaningful for families with children requiring special care and hoped similar initiatives would be continued to benefit more students from low-income households.
