LRT Mutiara Line: Partial Lane Closure At Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah, Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway

GEORGE TOWN, Dec 17 (Bernama) -- A long-term periodic partial lane closure at night on Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah will be carried out from Dec 18 to Feb 16 next year, for the purpose of utility identification and utility relocation works for the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Mutiara Line project.

Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) said in a statement that the closure will take place between 10 pm and 5 am, involving the far-left lane in both directions between the Jalan Mayang Pasir junction and Bayan Indah Police Village.

"However, one lane will always remain open to traffic and the closure is necessary to allow preliminary works for the Penang LRT: Mutiara Line Package CMC1, which involves road excavation to identify and relocate utilities," the statement said on its Facebook post.

According to the statement, road users are urged to exercise caution when passing through the area as signage, traffic cones and flagmen will be stationed at the specified locations for traffic control and safety of road users along the route.

MRT Corp also announced a long-term periodic partial lane closure on the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway, starting from Gat Lebuh Macallum to Gat Lebuh Cecil from 5 pm to 6am from Dec 13 to 31.

"The closure is carried out for road widening works and during this period, part of the route will be closed. Traffic teams will be on-site to ensure traffic flow stays smooth and safe," added the statement.
