KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 17 (Bernama) -- The 2025 Huffaz Gathering and Nusantara Da’wah Symphony event set to take place this Sunday at Masjid Tuminah Hamidi, Bagan Datuk, Perak, aims to serve as a platform for ummah unity, as part of the government’s continued efforts to strengthen the agenda of huffaz empowerment and tahfiz education at the national and regional levels.
The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, in a statement, said the programme themed “Qur’anic Heritage, Building a Rabbani Generation” was open to the public and aimed to enliven the spirit of the Quran while empowering the guardians and inheritors of the Quran, including huffaz, asatizah (teachers), preachers and da’wah practitioners from the country and the Nusantara region.
This year’s organisation adopts a more comprehensive and contemporary approach by integrating elements of da’wah and Islamic arts, scholarly discourse, regional cooperation networks as well as discussions on current da’wah challenges.
“This programme is not merely a gathering but a platform for ummah unity that upholds Islamic brotherhood, elevates Quranic knowledge and strengthens da’wah through a wise, effective and courteous approach.
“More than that, this gathering serves as a strategic platform to reinforce the role of tahfiz education as the backbone of Rabbani human capital development,” according to the statement.
The statement said the participation of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) stream, introduced since 2024, would also be continued to produce skilled huffaz with mastery of religious knowledge and professionalism, in line with future skilled workforce needs.
In addition, the gathering will also serve as an important platform for the launch of the Malaysia Tahfiz Recognition Standard (SPTM), which is scheduled to be enforced nationwide beginning in 2026 as a measure to strengthen the quality and governance of tahfiz institutions.
“SPTM is a strategic initiative introduced as a national standard to recognise registered tahfiz institutions under the State Islamic Religious Authorities,” according to the statement.
The standard was formulated to enhance the overall quality of tahfiz institutions, encompassing governance, infrastructure, curriculum, co-curriculum, quality of teaching staff as well as educational resources.
The implementation of SPTM is expected to be a catalyst for the modernisation of tahfiz education in line with current demands and, at the same time, broaden career pathways and professional development within the national tahfiz ecosystem.
According to the statement, the mega event is also aligned with the aspirations of the MADANI Government to build an inclusive, prosperous and resilient nation.
“In line with the thrusts of Malaysia MADANI, this programme emphasises the values of unity, inclusivity, faith-based education and balanced human capital development physically, spiritually and intellectually,” according to the statement.
Organised in collaboration with the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) and the National Tahfiz Al-Quran Institutions Association (PINTA), the programme is a platform for knowledge sharing, ummah empowerment and the consolidation of the direction of Islamic education in the modern era.
Among the main highlights of the programme are ‘Bicara Hati Umat’ with Ustaz Prof Dr Abdul Somad Batubara as well as da’wah arts performances that will connect contemporary da’wah with art, culture and the voices of the younger generation.
