16/12/2025 04:13 PM

IPOH, Dec 16 (Bernama) -- More than 95 per cent of game-changing programmes under the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) have been successfully implemented so far, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Ahmad Zahid, who is also the Minister of Rural and Regional Development, said this achievement reflects the commitment not only at the ministry level but also at the various state government exco level.

“We want each state’s exco to pay attention to the issue of achieving the allocations channelled to the state government and we want in terms of cost effectiveness to have a lasting impact.

“We have a little time left until the end of this year and we hope it will be fully achieved,” he said during a press conference after chairing the 60th Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) and Rural Executive Committee Coordination Meeting (MEXCBLUB) here, today.

Also present were Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad, Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development Datuk Rubiah Wang and Perak Rural Development, Plantation, Agriculture and Food Industry Committee chairman Datuk Zolkafly Harun.

Earlier it was reported that KKDW identified 42 game changer programmes or key change-makers for 2025 in an effort to improve the well-being of the rural community.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Zahid said that as a result of the discussions and policy proposals in MEXCLUB this time, there will be an important input to the preparation of the KKDW Strategic Plan 2026–2030 which will be launched in February next year.

Meanwhile, he said the meeting also agreed for KKDW to adopt the e-Penghulu system pioneered by Perak as a digital platform whose use will be expanded to all penghulu offices nationwide.

Also touched upon was the national target of 70 per cent of SPM graduates choosing the TVET route as their first choice by 2030, hence rural exco nationwide were called upon to support efforts towards the policy goal.
