Perkeso’s Progressive Wage Policy Attracts Over 13,400 Workers And 1,100 Employers

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 4 (Bernama) -- The implementation of the Progressive Wage Policy (DGP) since January 2025 has seen 13,403 workers registered as participants in the programme up to Aug 31.

The Social Security Organisation (PERKESO) in a statement today said that 1,167 employers have joined the initiative as part of efforts to strengthen the country's labour market structure through fairer, sustainable and competitive wages.

Among them are Rocket Integration Technology Sdn Bhd, Rovski Industries Sdn Bhd, Sri Lara Joint Security Services Sdn Bhd, Tripfez Travel and Tours Sdn Bhd and Mitrajaya Holdings Bhd.

"DGP benefits both parties, with employees receiving fairer rewards, while employers enjoy monthly financial support from the government.

"It is also in line with the Malaysia MADANI aspiration to create a more progressive, inclusive and sustainable labour market through close cooperation between the Government, PERKESO, employers and employees," the statement said.

Employers participating in DGP are also eligible for financial incentives until 2027, in addition to enjoying various other benefits such as reduced operating costs, employee retention, attracting new talent, boosting worker motivation, and strengthening their image as progressive employers.

In this regard, the agency also called upon more employers to implement DGP to address critical labour market issues, including slow wage growth compared to productivity, skills mismatch with pay, and concerns over operating costs.

This Madani Government initiative is also backed with financial incentives amounting to over RM35 million, as a sign of support for employers participating in DGP.

The policy, it said, provides a comprehensive solution by encouraging wage increases in line with skills and productivity, offering government financial incentives to ease operating costs, and giving flexibility as participation is voluntary.
