Drop In Number Of Flood Victims In Terengganu, Situation In Sarawak Improving

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 15 (Bernama) -- The number of flood victims in Terengganu is reported to have increased slightly as of 5 pm today,  while the situation in Sarawak is reported to be improving.

In TERENGGANU, the number of flood victims has increased to 326 people from 101 families, compared to 299 people from 78 families this morning.

According to the Terengganu State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) Secretariat, a total of 274 victims (87 families) are in the Hulu Terengganu district, who are at five relief centres (PPS).

The PPS are at Bangunan PPS Kampung Lubok Periok, Masjid Kampung Peneh, Balairaya Kampung Kemat, Balairaya Kampung Pelandan and Balairaya Kampung Tapah.

The remaining 52 victims (14 families) are in the Kemaman district, who are being accommodated at three PPS - Dewan Orang Ramai Kampung Air Putih, Masjid Sungai Mas and Dewan Sivik Air Putih.

In SARAWAK, the state JPBN said that the flood situation is improving, with only two PPSs still operating in Miri.

Eleven victims from five families are still at two PPS, at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Suai, Niah and Dewan Bulan Sabit Merah, compared to 18 victims from nine families this morning.
