KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 10 (Bernama) -- A total of 1,080 graduates were celebrated at the KPJ Healthcare University Group 27th Convocation ceremony yesterday, with four receiving the institution’s highest honours.
Chancellor Award recipient Nur Dini Dalilah M. Rosli, 23, said the recognition was especially meaningful and would motivate her to continue improving her family’s livelihood.
The Kedah-born graduate said her parents were her strongest inspiration throughout her three years of study at KPJ Healthcare University in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan.
“Discipline is extremely important, and we must always give our best if we want to maintain excellence every semester,” she told Bernama.
Meanwhile, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Award recipient M. Abarnah, 23, said her family’s financial circumstances never dampened her determination to excel academically.
“My mother prepared home-cooked meals throughout my studies, and that sacrifice drove me to remain on the dean’s list every semester.
“Although I often studied late into the night, all that effort was rewarded with this special honour,” she said.
Vice-Chancellor Award recipient R. Rubini, 37, said balancing full-time work as a physiotherapist with academic responsibilities proved that personal discipline was crucial to success.
“Studying while working is not easy. It requires strong commitment and the initiative to constantly consult supervisors whenever there are uncertainties in research,” she said.
KPJU Chancellor Tan Sri Dr Ismail Abu Bakar said KPJ Healthcare University and KPJ Healthcare College have produced 15,390 alumni since their establishment.
“KPJU is not merely an educational institution but an intellectual platform producing globally minded healthcare professionals, leaders and innovators.
“Therefore, graduates can no longer depend solely on academic knowledge. They must be critical thinkers and empathetic communicators who prioritise knowledge beyond the classroom,” he said.
In line with current professional needs, the university conferred the title of Honorary Professional on KPJU Board of Directors chairman Datuk Syed Mohamed Syed Ibrahim.
It also appointed two Adjunct Professors, namely Datuk Rizal Syah Abdul Wahid and Khairuddin Jaglus, for the Master’s and Bachelor’s programmes under the School of Healthcare Management.
Ismail said these appointments would strengthen academic quality and enrich learning with direct guidance from experienced industry leaders.
KPJ Healthcare University vice-chancellor Prof Dr Tunku Kamarul Zaman Tunku Zainol Abidin said the university was proud that over 90 per cent of its graduates secure employment within six months of completing their studies every year.
“Many are absorbed into hospitals nationwide, reflecting that our programmes are not only in theory but are also aligned with real healthcare industry needs based on practice, technology and empathy,” he added.
