KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 1 (Bernama) -- The Credit Counselling and Debt Management Agency (AKPK) today reaffirmed its commitment to financial education and social responsibility through a city-wide treasure hunt, ‘KLues to BUDI’, which gathered more than 200 participants from financial institutions, media partners, and the local community.

Held at Menara Aras Raya, the event aimed to translate financial literacy into real-world application while promoting AKPK’s BUDI values, namely Bina Ilmu Umpil PotensiDinamikkan Sumber and Imbalan Kebijaksanaan.

AKPK chief executive officer Azaddin Ngah Tasir said the event was more than a fun competition, as it encouraged teamwork, critical thinking and financial decision-making in a dynamic setting.

“At AKPK, we believe that being ‘berbudi’ is more than just extending financial support, it’s about restoring hope and dignity.

“Strategic partnership with financial providers has shown that compassion and collaboration can open second chances for those facing financial hardship, helping them rise again with renewed confidence,” he said in a statement.

In conjunction with the event, AKPK also launched a corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative to assist vulnerable communities in the Klang Valley. Funds raised through the event were used to purchase kitchen essentials such as cooking oil and dry food items for B40 families.

Azaddin said the initiative embodies AKPK’s belief that financial resilience begins with meeting basic needs and building human dignity.

“Media partners play an essential role in this journey, shaping a positive narrative that empowers the public to live wisely, spend responsibly and manage their finances with purpose at every stage of life,” he said.

He also added that AKPK would continue to collaborate with key stakeholders to implement impactful programmes that strengthen financial literacy and overall community well-being.
